I’m working on concepts for a mathematics tarot deck.
So far I have…
- Binary as the Lovers
- the Lorenz system as the Fool
- E=mc^2 as the Emperor
- V=mgh as the Empress
- Maxwell’s Demon as (duh) the Devil
- the Mandelbrot set as Death (given a Julia set that sends all results toward zero)
- Minkowski spacetime as the Hermit
Further suggestions are welcome — I’m tentatively toying with Pi as the World and the Uncertainty Principle as the Magician.
ETA: Now that the deck is in post-production, I thought I’d quickly edit this post with a these-cards-are-different-now addendum! Death is now Binary while the Lovers are the Mandelbrot set, as the original order was a mistake in my notes. The Magician is the Uncertainty Principle and Pi is the Wheel of Fortune.
